On Sunday April 11th, there was the hearing on Nabil El Kurd. Nabil El Kurd was arrested on Saturday night because of a false testimony of a settler. The settler was also arrested after a testimony against him. Both were released with restraining conditions.
On Wednesday there was a dinner with the participation of activists and families from the neighborhood supporting Nabil El Kurd.
400 people participated in weekly demonstrations in Sheikh Jarah. Among the participants were David Grosman, Avrum Burg and Knesset member Haim Oron. A group of 50 demonstrators also tried to protest near the Hanun family home, but the police put an end to it after a few minutes.
On Saturday, April 17th artists from abroad and activists came to the neighborhood in order to draw on the walls of the families’ houses. The settlers tried to prevent it and called the police claiming that people are drawing on their walls. The police’s attorney allowed them draw only on one wall. Later a group of settlers came and one of them sprayed tear gas on a group of activists and Palestinians, one Palestinian was hurt and needed medical treatment.
On Sunday April 18th settlers splashed paint on El Kurd family’s walls in order to destroy the Saturday drawings. When an international activist tried to prevent it he was arrested by the police.
