Mutual respect among people: Thoughts from a recent interreligious conference

Last week I was privileged to participate in an international interreligious conference in Kosovo. Three hundred men and women participated in this conference from all over the world.  I did not agree with all the speakers, neither did I have the opportunity to speak with all of them. May 24: Join Tag Meir at the Knesset for the launch of a new anti-price tag campaign

On Tuesday May 24 2016, a new anti-price tag attack inter-party campaign will be launched in the Knesset.  It will be headed by MK Itzik Shmuli (Labor) and MK Merav Ben-Ari (Kulanu). Tag Meir, a coalition of organisations committed to fighting hate-crimes in Israel and showing solidarity with their victims, invites you to attend this important event.

WEDNESDAY: Memorial for Richard Lakin z”l at Kol HaNeshama

 Mr Lakin was a man of peace and an activist for Tag Meir, and was tragically murdered by a Palestinian extremist in a Jerusalem attack last month.

Monday: Selichot prayers at Tel HaShomer hospital

With the arrival of the Jewish month of Elul – a month dedicated to repentance before the High holidays – Tag Meir is organizing a selichot prayer event at the Sheba-Tel HaShomer hospital, where Riham and Achmed Dawabshe are being treated. Two weeks ago they were critically injured in an arson attack, believed to be perpetrated by Jewish extremists,  that killed the father of the family and their toddler son. Continue Reading

This past Jerusalem Day (May 17 2015), Tag Meir distributed  flowers in the Old City of Jerusalem as a way to counteract the racism and intimidation that often occurs as ultra-nationalistic Jews march through the Muslim Quarter of the city, waving flags and shouting racist slogans. May 4th with Tag Meir and CET: Speak Arabic in Jerusalem!

There have been recent incidents in Jerusalem where residents were assaulted in the streets because they were speaking Arabic. In response, the Tag Meir Coalition, of which RHR is an active member, and CET have organised a joint activity  where folks will ride the light rail from Kikar Safra to Mt Herzl, all the while conversing in Arabic! By proudly speaking in Arabic, we will fight violence while raising awareness of Arabic as a legitimate language in Israel! Continue Reading

Tag Meir Coalition arranges theatrical performance in Murayer
