Elul, The end of the Summer, The sound of the Shofar is heard in the synagogues and the clamor of protest on the streets. The Days of Awe approach. Elul is the month when we start in a long procedure of self examination that formally finishes on Hoshana-Raba, but informally never ends. We are always being tested. We are tested as we are requested to hear the Still Small Voice, to turn and change direction, and return to our true selves ,to the potential we always had.
