The struggle for Palestinian planning rights in Area C, Rights, Rights in the Occupied Territories, General, Legal
by Quamar Mishirqi-Asad, Attorney
Our legal department at Rabbis for Human Rights continues the project it started in 2004 on the issue of planning and construction, and takeovers of Palestinian land in the West Bank. We oversee more than 100 files in total. We are one of the only organizations which guides planning procedures at the initiative of Palestinian villages served by the Civil Administration in the West Bank and thus that deals with land issues.
We have still not received the state’s reply to our petition concerning the transfer of planning authority to Palestinians in Area C.
We have a new area we are taking care of on a legal level – the Bethlehem district – and we will work there against takeovers by settlers just like we do at South Mount Hebron.
