Palestinians are reporting that the incident began about an hour ago, when a group of settlers descended from Yitzhar to Highway 60 toward Nablus and Hawara. At the junction they began hurling stones and igniting [wheat] fields and olive and almond orchards.
Buses of Palestinian students on a trip were stopped by the military, and that enabled the settlers to attack the children right before the soldiers’ eyes. We have no information yet on injuries. The children were evacuated to Nablus, some to hospitals. The masked settlers burned many trees and blocked Palestinian firefighters from the access road – as well as two Israeli fire trucks. They are currently mingling with the soldiers; the soldiers have not reacted to the incident. There are also blue-uniformed police and green-uniformed Border Guards in the area; they have not responded either.
