By: Rabbi Arik Ascherman
Following the “Tag Mehir” incident and the arson attempt at the Latrun monastery, on Wednesday (5.9) there was an event of peace and brotherhood. Rabbis for Human Rights and members of the Forum Tag Meir prayed together for peace.
Last week there was another serious “Tag Mehir” (“price tag”) incident. Unknown assailants set fire to the entry door of the “Monastery of the Silent Monks” at Latrun and sprayed malicious graffiti against Christianity.
Tens of “Tag Mehir” incidents have occurred in recent years. Most of them damage mosques. Unfortunately, the state has completely failed to bring the guilty to justice. But we at RHR, as part of the “Tag Meir” coalition, decided to bring light and solidarity between religions to places where darkness has penetrated. Therefore, last Wednesday we held an assembly of fraternity which included inter religious prayers and music in the garden next to the Latrun monastery.
