This world is filled with lawyers who can help us find a way to do an end run around the spirit of the law, even as we observe the letter of the law. Rabbi Arik Ascherman connects the social current affairs and the parasha and shows us the right direction.
The struggle against the planned demolition in Susya continues (see Prof. Eyal Benvenisti’s expert opinion advocating against the forced eviction of the village of Susya).
We continue to resist the eviction of Aju family from Ramle.
Nico Sokolovsky, the Rights Center manager of Hadera, leaves us with words of farewell.
We have prepared an opinion paper in order to submit it to the Edmond Levi Commission (Hebrew).
- The court hearing of our appeal against Regavim’s petition (regarding Susya) was postponed for another 4 months.
- We continue to wait for the Civil Administration’s response regarding our appeal of the demolition orders issued against structures in Susya. If our claims will not be accepted, we will petition the High Court of Justice.
- Our petition to the Supreme Court regarding Area C lands was postponed to November 2012.
- In the last two weeks, since the new head of the D.C.O, Kobbi, entered the position, farmers from Yanun were denied access to their lands during the harvest season. After intensive negotiations between our legal team and the DCO, entrance was granted to the farmers.
